This was quite a cute comic, but it makes the most sense when you consider the tiger barb is, quite literally, the devil attempting to introduce mortal sin to a bunch of simple fish.
This is a great comic. I really enjoyed reading it. I commend you on the thought you must have put into this. The characters all seemed so dynamic, the entire story was a masterpiece.
hmmm. Wonderful. It was nice to see such a different perspective on life.
I may have some disturbances or inconsistencies with the story, but That's just me being a cynical critic of peoples' work.
Heck, Disney's Hercules was horribly incorrect but the movie was so awesome. As is this comic so awesome.
Props to you and your advanced thought processes. (Does that sound right?)
Also, I would like to know if you are ever planning on selling this comic as a hardcopy book. Or series of books.
I would like to put a book or book of this out someday. Biggest problem would be cost, since it's a long full color comic. Others have asked for it too, so, someday …
You could always ask for donations to get it started. If it gets popular, you should receive enough profit to release more and more of the book…
This was an amazing comic and I would so totally buy it in a heartbeat. But if you made it a book, would you keep the free version up on your website?
Yes, I'd keep the free version up. Book versions of webcomics are for fans who liked it so much they want an easy access portable version that supports the creator.
The problem with asking for donations is that a project like this would need a very large sum of money. Plus I want to put out some "Uh-oh it's a Dinosaur" books out first since it's significantly more popular. But people keep asking for a book, so I will as soon as I'm able to.
I'm working on a few basic things I can sell myself. I want to get into TopatoCo, but before they'd even consider letting me in I still need 10x more readers (which is a lot). While I know of sharkrobot, I didn't know you could get in. DeviantArt could be an option, but if I did it myself I could make more. Regardless, I need to have something up soon.
I'm looking forward to having even more pressure from this comic! And my web hosting company has a good reader tracking system.
But while having a lot of readers is nice, what's even better are dedicated readers – the ones who'll buy these books and other awesome things for a little support. And I know there are some of them too.
Man, I love that you wrote this. The whole tone reading it I couldn’t help but compare the tank to our world. Stylistically, this reminded me of Animal Farm.
With some grammar/spelling corrections, this could make money. Lovely ending too. And as always, great art. I’m also amazed at your ability to keep track of so many characters. Well done!
Amazon actually has a good print on demand service I've looked into as well. I've been weighing my options. A book is such a daunting task. But the results will be worth it for sure.
I've read every comment ever made on this site. WordPress makes it easy.
You are correct, THIS story was finished up. I would never make a sequel just for the sake of having a sequel. Only if there was demand, time, and ideas would I do it. Ideas are the key part. If I would ever to something more it would be because I had to with the ideas I have. And the one idea I would go off that I have IS a little different.
I agree with you when you say one shouldn't add something to a series that's already been established. If the first part was designed perfectly, why would there be a need to add more? But what IS 95 Gallons? It's sort of a satire on our life, and there's always more that could be done. I picked my favorite and most important stories and put them in. I didn't want it to go on forever, so there's a few chapters I left on the cutting room floor. Could I make those into another comic? Perhaps, but weaving another story into an already completed quilt just wouldn't be the same.
Again, while it is something I would like to make I have other better ideas I would rather do first. I go through many comic ideas all the time, and it takes a few failed ideas until you come up with a brilliant one. I have more stories I'd like to tell, and while I could do more for this one it's all wrapped up tightly as is.
Just finished reading the whole thing. It's really a beautiful story, I
congradulate you; its one thing to come up with crazy schemes and crazier counter schemes, but its another to scheme the whole thing, and then turn it into a webcomic.
Who can say? I left that part of it open. Did he leave forever and all the fish will live in peace? Or is he still hiding out there, waiting to strike? Or is he already in the middle of something and we don't even know because we're too distracted by youtube and music television … hmm, what?
Oh poo, you did send that and I did read it.
It is certainly a good idea. The biggest problem with getting these books started it that I just don't have time. After working a job and making all the comics for the week I just don't have much more energy and need to relax with games too.
Also, I would rather have a Kyra book out first since that comic is more popular then the other two. But on the other hand 95 Gallons is done. I need to think of something soon.
I've just finished this a second time. It's almost a year later now, and this story had a completely different impact on me. It is a living book, I feel, and that if everyone were to have read this book I believe the world could have been a much better place. The detail shown here made me crave for a sequel originally, but now I'm content with this story, seeing that this is the most desirable outcome. I now want to congratulate you from a college student's perspective, and you put a whole new view on the aquarium that George Orwell would be proud of.
This may seem like a simple comic about fish going crazy, but I can see the real point of it is to teach us more about ourselves and how bad things are becoming in the world. What I dislike, however, about the ending is that it appears to be more of a closing of events sort of ending and less of an ending to illustrate the solution to the problem. I do read from it that working together is the best way to solve these problems, but in our day, we'll need a lot more than that :P.
I can see that you have noticed things about society that not a lot of people do, and I respect you for that. :D
There really isn't an ultimate solution because I'm not sure there can ever be one. Just in this small little aquarium all the occupants will never be able to agree on everything. It is very much a "well we rooted out the main problem for the moment … but what now?"

Hooray for a happy ending. I guess. You know, if I saw fish trading pebbles I'd pay attention.

I think that this is a wonderful way to show how a world can collapse and recover. Bravo, Andrew.
This was quite a cute comic, but it makes the most sense when you consider the tiger barb is, quite literally, the devil attempting to introduce mortal sin to a bunch of simple fish.
That was such a beautiful ending. The comic ending is very sad however. Please make a sequel!
This is a great comic. I really enjoyed reading it. I commend you on the thought you must have put into this. The characters all seemed so dynamic, the entire story was a masterpiece.
wait… so this is actually an end?! D: make moar!

Awesome! I'll definitely be one of your buyers!
Or maybe you could start by selling posters, t-shirts, or prints. I think you can find some places to sell like TopatoCo http://topatoco.com/hey/
or shark robot http://sharkrobot.com/
you could even start selling things on Deviant art
I'm working on a few basic things I can sell myself. I want to get into TopatoCo, but before they'd even consider letting me in I still need 10x more readers (which is a lot). Hmm. How are your readers determined?
Maybe if you start a forum you could get things done faster.
Or do you really just like not being an renowned overpressured comic artist?
I'm looking forward to having even more pressure from this comic! And my web hosting company has a good reader tracking system.
But while having a lot of readers is nice, what's even better are dedicated readers – the ones who'll buy these books and other awesome things for a little support. And I know there are some of them too.
You should really have a place on your website where people can donate to you, though. A little extra money goes a long way…
I'd buy a copy of this
On one hand I love what you did with the story…. but on the other I'm sad I finished another webcomic, sequel or continuation please!
Man, I love that you wrote this. The whole tone reading it I couldn’t help but compare the tank to our world. Stylistically, this reminded me of Animal Farm.

Tone should say time… Stupid phone keyboard…
On the thought of a book, look up ka-blam and its printing on demand service. It looks to be SUPER CHEAP :o I mean, holy shit.

I do have a question. Did Tiger Barb swim into the filter?

Agreed completely.

And that's what we as a world find ourselves in.
Except with a less certain outcome, as politics and morality gradually seperate.
This is a wonderful parable about commercialism, mainstream culture, and society as a whole.
The TIger Barb is brilliantly written… even at the very end, you still want to believe he's not really evil. Even after he's done so much.

The Tiger Barb is this.
