I actually had something similar to this at Halloween this year. A little kid who barely seemed to understand what the whole Halloween thing was about came to the door with her mother, and I held down the bowl of candy so she could take one. As she was staring at the candy she took, her mother said, "What do you say?" and after a moment the kid said, "Want more." After a few repeats of the same words between the two, she finally got the idea and said, "Thank you," instead. It was awfully cute.
